Get to Know Jasmine

Jasmine Turkson – 2023

How did you achieve this look?

I don’t always do extreme eyeshadow looks, but when I do, I usually stick with a cut crease. I love the look of the sleek line and the bright shadows and I knew that the pink/purple combo was going to look great, especially for Valentine’s Day!

What’s your go-to beauty look?

On most days, I would say that my go-to beauty look is soft glam/natural makeup. I would like to think I focus less on contouring specifically, and more on accentuating my features, if that makes sense. I also love a bit of blush on my cheeks to bring some warmth to my face.

What got you into makeup?

I remember when I was in the 7th grade and I was so fascinated as I would watch my sister get ready for school and e apply her foundation and put on lipstick. A memory I will never forget is forgetting to wipe off the mascara and pale blue eyeshadow I horribly put on for school and then coming home to my mother’s questioning face.

What’s your favorite little-known makeup hack?

As someone who has dark skin, I struggled a lot when I first started doing eyeshadow with getting the colors to pop on my skin as a lot of palettes are not pigmented enough for darker skin colors. After a lot of practice, I realized packing concealer onto my lid, and then mixing a light eyeshadow primer (my product of choice is from ABH), with a little of my own concealer, and placing the mixture towards the inside of my eyelid helped shadows appear more pigmented on my skin.

What’s your holy grail product?

It’s super difficult to choose just one product, but if I had to, I would say that the Farsali Skintune Blur is an essential product. I have really oily skin, especially around my T-zone, and after several trial and error processes, I realized my Farsali was the only thing that kept me matte throughout the day and kept my makeup looking flawless.

What was your favorite ROCKET shoot?

I loved the natural hair shoot from the FW20 edition. It was so nice to see so many different styles represented in print like that.
